Be careful, in fact don't bother

So it is time for my insurance renewal and I'd noticed Adrian Flux on here supporting the forum, a good sign - or so I thought. Several years ago I used Adrian Flux and I was pleased with them, I needed specialised cover back then and they came through. I didn't immediately think of Flux now as my Swift Sport isn't unusual in insurance terms and so I thought it might not be a good fit - but then I saw them on here so decided to get a quote.
I looked online via Money supermarket, I also checked out LVic then Flux. World of pain, after filling in all fields (including the infuriating "best quote so far") I hit "submit" and received "please wait", I did but no response so I did it all again - same result, really annoying.
The next morning I received a phone call from Flux "calling back with my quote", this is NOT at all what the online quote system suggests, the clue is in the words "online quote" - not a phone call.
Anyway the guy sounded friendly enough so I thought ok let's go through it, as online, one of the first questions was "what's your best quote so far?" There isn't enough room on this forum for me to describe how angry that makes me so I'll move on.
There was "good news", they had researched the marketplace on my behalf and had found a quote of just over £1,100 !!!! WHAT?? £1,100? I'm in my 40's, driving and fully comprehensively insured without any incident or claim whatsoever since age 19.
I remembered that one of the better quotes I'd had was from AXA, a company I know and trust, I asked Flux for an AXA quote in case the first quote was some kind of anomaly - just over £1300!!! Well that's almost £1000 more than I have been quoted from the same company! This from an expert who hopes we put trust in them to deliver a good deal, when I looked myself I struggled to find ANY deals with worse terms than those offered by Flux.
I was a long way from happy, I told him I had lost trust in both him and the company and not to ever call me back.
Half an hour later I received a text from Adrian Flux, they had found a great deal for me, for only £707. So now they have mysteriously lowered their quote by over £400 - why, and why wasn't this their original quote? So now they are only around double the price of several others. This service is absolutely shocking, seldom have I been so disappointed in the performance of a broker allegedly working on my behalf. Avoid.

Strange! I've had nothing but a good experience with them for the last 2 years, beating other modified car brokers for my modified swift and being very helpful on the phone.

Guess it depends who you are talking to on the end of the phone!

Last year paid ~ £480, full comp, protected no claims, all mods declared,12k miles a year.

    Hi Donna,

I've noted your comments and sorry to learn of the experience you have received. I'd really like to investigate this as you say returning to you with a far cheaper quotation is disconcerting.

If you don't mind messaging me your full name / postcode I can certainly take a look into this.

    Kind Regards,

    Dan

I understand your frustration Donna. Having owned modified cars in the past, I've tried a few specialist insurers. I had a less than great experiences with Sky and Adrian Flux. Greenlight and Keith Michaels has been consistently good - IMO of course.

I got a quote from them also and they quoted me over £4000 with my mods just because I do over 40,000 miles a year. They guy I spoke to said if you do under 10,000 or less it would be dirt cheap. But the company I go with do unlimited miles all my mods and points with 6 years no claims for just short of £900 a year.
